Club 50, a community-based not-for-profit organisation in Ho, has marked its 36th anniversary with the commissioning and dedication of a newly constructed borehole for the residents of Ho-Heve.

The commissioning was also in memory of five departed members on Friday.

The project, which cost GHS25,000, was dedicated to the memory of the late Mr George Agbehali, Mr Prosper Tedeku, Mr Hubert Appreku and Rev. Walter Bula-Mottey, among other dedicated members of the Club.

Mr Michael Kwasi Avor, Chairman of Club 50, together with members of the Club, commissioned, dedicated and unveiled the borehole to provide residents of Ho-Heve with improved access to potable water.

Mr Avor said the Club had also commenced construction of another borehole for the people of Ho-Dome as part of its community development initiatives.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the facility responsibly and cultivate a strong maintenance culture to ensure its sustainability for present and future generations.

The Chairman said the projects formed part of the Club’s commitment to contributing to the wellbeing and development of communities within Ho.

He also used the occasion to appeal to young men to join Club 50 and contribute to community development, noting that age was gradually catching up with the pioneers and older members of the organisation.

Togbe Anikpi III, Divisional Chief of Ho-Heve, who received the facility on behalf of the community, expressed gratitude to Club 50 for the gesture and its commitment to supporting the community.

He said the borehole would help address the water needs of residents and appealed to community members to protect and maintain the facility.

The anniversary celebration and donation highlighted Club 50’s continued commitment to community service and the preservation of the legacy of its departed members.
