Mr Maconi Dalete, a former Assembly Member of the Klikor Electoral Area, has called on residents to remain calm and united following the enstoolment of a new paramount chief, a week after the death of Torgbui Addo VIII.
Mr Dalete said the late Torgbui Addo VIII, who passed away at the age of 93, served the people of Klikor faithfully from 1983 until his death, dedicating his life to the growth, unity and stability of the traditional area.
Born on April 21, 1932, he described the late Paramount Chief as a pillar of peace whose leadership promoted social cohesion and development in Klikor for over four decades.
Mr Dalete noted that the passing of the Paramount Chief was received with sadness by the people of Klikor, who mourned the loss of a respected traditional ruler and father to the community.
He said despite the grief, the subjects had also welcomed the enstoolment of Togbe Addo IX known in private life as Dr. Frank Hukporti, a Retired Deputy Commissioner of Police and Director of Bands for the Ghana Police Service.
Mr Dalete expressed the hope that Tobge Addo would build on the legacy of unity and development established by his predecessor.
Touching on concerns about the timing of the enstoolment, Mr Dalete explained that the decision was likely aimed at securing the stool, ensuring continuity in traditional leadership and preventing potential chieftaincy disputes.
He noted that prolonged vacancies of such critical traditional positions often created confusion and unnecessary conflicts that could undermine peace in the community.
Mr Dalete stressed that the enstoolment of the new Paramount Chief should not diminish the honour, dignity or respect due to the late Torgbui Addo VIII.
He called on residents to patiently await official communication on the funeral arrangements and final burial rites for the late chief, assuring that he would be accorded a befitting burial in recognition of his long and dedicated service.
Mr Dalete further urged the people of Klikor to trust their elders and traditional authorities, maintain peace and place the unity and future of the community above all other considerations.
According to him, calmness, mutual respect and togetherness remained key to sustaining peace and development in Klikor.
