Nungua stool warns Okpelor Sowah Din Family, Trasasco to stay off Nmai Djor lands

The Nungua Traditional Stool is calling on the Okpelor Sowah Din Family of Teshie, and Trasasco not to engage in any illegal occupation and development of lands at Nmai Djor.

Referencing judgments of the Supreme Court, the Stool said: “the continued activities of Trasasco

o and the Okpelor Din Family of Teshie on the land, despite full knowledge of the pending proceedings, represent a deliberate attempt to overreach the court and undermine the administration of justice.”

The Stool cited Supreme Court judgments, including Empire Builders Ltd vs. Topkins Enterprises Ltd & Others (2020) and Nii Daniel Marleynai vs. Katamanso Stool & The Lands Commission (2023), which it says clearly establish the Stool’s rightful ownership of over the Nmai Djor lands.

At a presser, at the hall of the Nungua Traditional Authority, in Nungua, Accra, Nii Borteyfio Borteykwei Afadi Nsuro, Nkpor Mantse of Nungua, speaking on behalf of the Nungua Stool, said “any entry upon, development of, sale of , or interference with the land while this matter is before the court is a clear affront to judicial authority and constitute contempt of court.”

Traditional priests and priestesses, full in attendance at the presser invoked the spirits and gods of the Nungua Traditional Area and its adjoining areas before the presser, also attended by former Greater Accra Regional MinisteTatse Nii Laryea Akuetteh, Chief of Kpone Katamanso.

The Stool strongly condemned what it described as the unlawful invasion and occupation of its ancestral lands at Nmai Djor, and pointed accusing fingers a Trasacco and the Okpelor Sowah Din Family of Teshie.

The presser was held following a violent shooting incident on January 10, 2026, which according to the Stool, put lives at risk and posed a serious threat to public peace and security in the area.

Nii Afadi Nsuro accused the parties of deploying armed land guards and courting the support of National Security persons to execute development projects and intimidate people.

“The Nungua Stool condemns this incident in the strongest terms and expresses deep concern over credible reports suggesting the involvement and protection of certain political actors, who appear to be emboldening these unlawful acts in open defiance of existing court processes,” Nii Afadi Nsuro said.

The Stool cautioned the public, prospective land buyers and developers to exercise extreme caution and reject any document purporting to originate from the Okpelor Sowah Din Family, as it said, “the only valid title emanates from the Nungua Stool.”

The Stool has also called on state security agencies to intervene and restore law and order and maintain peace until the matter would be finally determined by the courts.

The Stool reaffirmed its commitment to peace, lawful development and the supremacy of the rule of law.
