Woman remanded over boyfriend’s death after alleged stabbing

Emmanuella Asare, a 19-year-old woman, has been remanded into police custody over the death of her boyfriend, Enoch Abrokwa, following an alleged stabbing.

The Tesano Divisional Police Command arrested and arraigned her after the incident, which occurred on October 9, 2026.

Chief Superintendent of Police Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, said in a statement that the deceased sustained a deep chest wound after the accused allegedly stabbed him with a piece of broken glass during a disagreement.

The statement said Abrokwa was taken to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina and later transferred to Ridge Hospital, where he underwent surgery for an injury that affected his intestines.

“He, (Enoch), however, died on October 14, 2026, while receiving treatment,” the statement said.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the disagreement occurred at the deceased’s residence and escalated into a confrontation, during which he was allegedly stabbed, the statement said.

It said the accused was arrested on October 10, 2026, after a complainant and three others brought her to the police station.

She reportedly admitted to stabbing the deceased.

Asare was subsequently arraigned and remanded into police custody to reappear on November 3, 2026, while investigations continued.

The Accra Regional Police Command urged the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and cooperate with the Police as investigations continued.
