Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has thanked the people and chiefs in the Bono East Region for the overwhelming victory given to the party in the 2024 general elections.
Mr Nketiah underscored the need for the people in the Region to unite and project the peace being enjoyed in the area, saying, peace was the ultimate tool that could promote the needed development in the area mentioning the improvement of the socio-economic development and the creation of platforms that would empower the human resource for the development of the economy.
Mr Nketiah speaking at Yeji, when he met party faithful’s, supporters, members, the chiefs, and people of the area noted that peace had the aptitude to encourage effective introduction of good policies and programmes geared at promoting the livelihood conditions of the people.
He reminded the people of the devastating nature of conflicts and their related issues by calling for peace in the area.
Touching on the 2024 general election’s victory, Mr Nketiah indicated that since 1992 no political party in the country has ever experienced such victory and it was now the part of the NDC party to fulfill its promises through the implementation of the flagship programmes such as the National Apprenticeship Programme, the 24 hour economy, Feed Ghana, and the Nkuko Nkitinkitin programmes to empower the people economically.
At Kintampo North and south, the Chairman reiterated government’s preparedness to introduce more social intervention programmes and initiatives that would strengthen the livelihoods of the people.
Mr Nketiah at Techiman South constituency assured of government’s commitment to improve the road network, provide good social amenities like health, and education to contribute to the people’s wellbeing.
The Bono East Regional Chairman, Mr Unas Owusu lauded government commitment in fulfilling all the promises given before the elections and that he was optimistic that the current flagship programmes being rolled out would foster in providing the needs of the people.
He said since the region was an agricultural dominated area, the government was working to empower farmers, through the feed Ghana flagship programme, to enable the Region to produce more food and cash crops for both export and local consumption.
He urged the people to continue supporting government policies and initiatives to encourage him to implement more to support the development of the Region.
The NDC Chairman was accompanied by Mr Alex Kyeremeh, NDC National Treasurer and Alhaji Mohammed Doku in charge of National Logistics for the tour.
The team also visited Sene West, Pru East, and West, Atebubu-Amantin, Kintampo North and South, Nkoranza North and South as well as the Techiman North and South.
