They are the Lord’s Academy school in Anloga, Ketasco Number 2 M/A Basic School and Keta Bright Future School to battle for supremacy and the ultimate prize.

The annual competition saw a total of 28 Basic schools from Anloga district and Keta Municipality, who registered for season six edition with the three schools overpowering them to make it to the much-anticipated grand finale.

Mr Courage Fiawogbey, the Executive Director of YMIQ, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the event was organised by the Young Foundation Builders Network in collaboration with Likhem Media with the aim to promote intellectual growth among young students in the region.

“The competition in previous years has produced notable National Sciences and Maths Quiz contestants who represented various Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Keta and Anloga districts at national levels, and we are glad we have contributed to their successful stories,” he said.

He explained that the event seeks to inspire young minds to pursue knowledge and develop critical thinking skills through engaging in quiz formats and the winners of the competition would receive cash prizes and recognition certificates as a way of motivating them and other students to participate in future academic contests.

Mr Fiawogbey said that the quiz championship emphasised on the importance of academic excellence and encouraged students to excel in various subjects, especially Sciences and Mathematics.

The Quiz also aimed to foster healthy academic rivalry among schools in the Volta Region to boost educational standards.

“The grand final is scheduled to take place on Friday, February 6, at 0900 hours at the Global Evangelical Church Bethany Chapel, near Ketasco Boys Hostel, Keta.”

He lamented lack of adequate support to run a successful competition and appealed to the public including the District Chief Executive (DCE) and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Anloga and Keta, respectively, to help the organisers rise a minimum of GHS10,000 to fund the finals to cover up the cash prizes for the three schools and individual contestants.

He said the sponsorship would also help handle logistics such as transportation for participating teams and the production of certificates among others for winners as well as other contestants.

He described the competition as an opportunity to shape feature leaders, innovators, and nation builders and needed some form of financial support to produce more brilliant and responsible students in the areas.

Mr Fiawogbey stated that for more information about the event or sponsorship opportunities, individuals and interested parties, organisations and group of entities, can contact 025761063 to enable organise smooth and successful competition.
