The Kadjebi District Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has announced plans to intensify inspections of public premises and residential homes to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
The exercise forms part of efforts to promote fire prevention consciousness and reduce the incidence of fire outbreaks in the district.
Divisional Officer Grade Three (DO III) Anthony Dormah, the Kadjebi District Fire Commander, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a courtesy visit to his office on Wednesday, February 04.
He said the Command had already embarked on educational visits to churches and schools within the district to sensitise management, staff and congregants on basic fire prevention practices and other disaster risk reduction measures.
DO III Dormah explained that the inspections would focus on the availability and proper use of fire extinguishers, clear exit routes, electrical safety, and adherence to general fire safety standards in public facilities.
He noted that the Command would also engage cocoa farmers across the district, especially as the dry season intensifies, to educate them on bushfire prevention mechanisms to protect farms, homes and forest resources.
He urged the public to cooperate fully with fire officers during the inspections and to take fire safety education seriously, stressing that prevention remained the most effective way to save lives and property.
He reaffirmed the GNFS’s commitment to working with stakeholders to ensure a safer and fire-conscious Kadjebi District.
