TMA donates food items to Muslims ahead of Eid al-Fitr

The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has donated assorted food items to Muslim communities in the metropolis to support this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The items, to be distributed across mosques within the Tema Metropolis, include 70 bags of rice, 40 boxes of cooking oil, and 40 boxes of canned mackerel.

Madam Ebi Bright, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, who presented the items, said the gesture formed part of the Assembly’s support for Muslims at the end of the Ramadan fasting period.

She noted that the items were intended to be shared among various mosques to support families and bring joy to the Muslim community during the festivities.

Madam Bright commended Muslims in the metropolis for observing the Ramadan fast peacefully and for offering prayers for the nation and the people of Tema.

She said it was appropriate for the Assembly and residents of Tema to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating Eid al-Fitr after the 30-day period of fasting and prayers.

She wished them a happy Eid Mubarak and advised them to celebrate in peace, unity, and moderation, avoiding any behaviour that could disrupt the calm atmosphere in the community.

Alhaji Imam Hamed Hussein, Tema Metropolitan Chief Imam, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the donation, describing it as a positive step towards supporting Muslims to celebrate the festival meaningfully.

He urged Muslims to observe both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha in peace, unity, and harmony, reminding them that Eid is a time for piety, charity, and reflection on the lessons of Ramadan, rather than excessive celebration.

The presentation ceremony was attended by Muslim clerics from various mosques, assembly members, heads of departments, and staff of the Assembly.
