Mr Edem Ackuaku, the Chief Executive Officer of Delmark Agro, an agribusiness venture, has partnered with officials of Bon Agro to launch an educational initiative across farming communities in Akatsi South.
The programme seeks to engage farmers and equip them with modern techniques to improve their agricultural activities.
The initiative, on the theme “Empowering Farmers through Knowledge and Collaboration,” focuses on training farmers in modern agricultural practices, improving access to inputs, and strengthening partnerships among stakeholders within the agricultural value chain.
Mr Ackuaku, who is also a politician and the 2022 Overall Best Farmer in the Akatsi South Municipality, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after a series of workshops with farmers that the initiative was expected to equip participants with the knowledge, resources, and collaborative opportunities needed to improve productivity and livelihoods.
He said the events, which brought together hundreds of farmers across various zones, demonstrated a strong commitment to agricultural development in the Municipality.
Mr Ackuaku emphasised the crucial role of knowledge-sharing in addressing challenges such as low productivity, limited market access, and the impacts of climate change on farming in the area.
Mr Japhet Festus Gbede, Assembly Member for the Wuxor, Have, Sremanu Electoral Area, where farming activities dominate and many farmers benefited from the programme, commended Mr Ackuaku for his vision and dedication to empowering farmers.

He said: “His efforts reflect a deep understanding of the critical role agriculture plays in Akatsi South, where over 90 per cent of our people depend on farming as their primary source of livelihood.”
Mr Gbede said such initiatives were not only commendable but essential to driving sustainable development, food security, and economic growth in their communities.
The programme, which received support from Mr Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive of Akatsi South, and some party executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), including Mr Solo Adotevi, the NDC Vice Chairman for Akatsi South, also provided a platform for the farmers to engage with experts, share experiences and adopt innovative practices to enhance crop yields and promote sustainability.
Some beneficiaries from the Wute Zone told the GNA that the initiative would enhance food security and promote economic development in Akatsi South through strengthened agricultural capacity.
