The Volta Regional Management of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), led by Regional General Manager, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, has undertaken a series of strategic stakeholder visits to key institutions to strengthen partnerships and improve service delivery in the region.
The team paid working visits to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), and the Ho Nursing Training College, as part of efforts to deepen collaboration and address operational challenges.
At the engagements, all three institutions welcomed the initiative and highlighted key concerns, including power supply instability, billing issues, and metering challenges affecting operations within the Volta Region.
Mr Philip Agbezudor Volta Regional Director of PURC emphasised the need for ECG to strictly comply with regulatory directives, particularly regarding power outages and disconnections during nights and weekends, while reaffirming its readiness to support ongoing reforms and collaboration.

Discussions with UHAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Lydia Aziato and Mrs Augustina Naa Shorme Noi Ayivor the Principal of the Ho Nursing Training College focused on the impact of unreliable power supply on critical facilities such as medical laboratories, lecture halls, and student hostels.
In a response, Ms. Christina Jatoe-Kaleo outlined measures being implemented to improve power stability and briefed stakeholders on medium- to long-term strategies aimed at addressing voltage fluctuations across the region.
To strengthen institutional ties, Ms Jatoe-Kaleo proposed opportunities for ECG staff to access academic programmes at UHAS and the Nursing Training College, a proposal that was positively received, with both institutions encouraging interested applicants to meet the necessary admission requirements.
Additionally, ECG and UHAS agreed to explore expanded areas of collaboration, including the possibility of positioning ECG as an energy and power consultancy partner for the university.
As an immediate intervention, ECG committed to conducting a comprehensive energy audit at the Asogli Hostel to help identify inefficiencies and improve power management.
The stakeholder engagements form part of ECG’s broader strategy to build stronger institutional relationships, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver reliable electricity services through sustained collaboration.
