Madam Veronica Tuffour, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) hopeful, contesting for the Bono Regional Treasurer position of the party says mothers deserve to be honoured for their sacrifices and unconditional love.
“Motherhood is not just a title; it is sacrifice, resilience, patience, and unconditional love”, she stated in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani to mark the Mother’s Day celebration.
Mad Tuffour said: “It is the quiet work done behind the scenes by mothers that build strong homes and, by extension, a strong nation. Ghana would not be what it is without the hands and hearts of its mothers”.
She noted that mothers, grandmothers, single mothers, stepmothers, and every woman who had taken on the sacred role of nurturing life, saying that: “Your strength is the foundation upon which our families, our communities, and our region stand”.
“In fact, you wake up before dawn to prepare your children for school, you work in our markets and farms to put food on the table, you pray over your homes when the night is quiet, and you hold everything together even when resources are scarce”, she stated.
Mad Tuffour noted that: “As someone who hopes to serve as your regional treasurer, I understand that supporting mothers goes beyond words”.
She pledged her dedication to create systems that work for women in ensuring that women traders in particular access fair markets while mothers in general had access to quality healthcare if she was giving the nod.
“I will also work hard to ensure that young girls stay in school, and that women in agriculture and business have the financial support they need to thrive too”, Mad Tuffour stated.
She indicated that: “Responsible stewardship of our great party’s resources is about making sure that women’s welfare and empowerment remain a priority in our plans and our budget”, saying that: “On this day, I want every mother to know that you are seen, you are valued, and you are appreciated”.
“Your labor, seen and unseen, is the backbone of our society and may you feel celebrated not just today, but every day”, Mad Tuffour concluded and wished all good health, peace of mind, and joy in your homes, praying for God to strengthen mothers for the tasks ahead.
