Eleven regional executives of the New Patriotic Party, elected winners at party’s Oti regional executives’ election on Saturday, have been sworn into office.

They will steer the affairs of the Party in the region for the next four years.

The executives took the Oath of Secrecy and Official Oath after they were duly declared winners of the regional executive elections by Mr Nuhu Mahama, Oti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Jasikan Diocesan Formation and Counselling Centre at Nsuta-Buem, where the elections were conducted.

The new executives are Dr Frank Yirenkyi, Regional Chairman; Mr Stephen Benyaseh Alewaba, First Vice-Chairman; Mr Derrick Mensah Bonsu, Second Vice-Chairman; Dr Frank Awuah, Secretary; Mr Abubakar Adams, Assistant Secretary; and Mr Nicholas Baafi Boadi, Treasurer.

The others are Mr Emmanuel Kwaku Obonda, Organiser; Ms Olivia Yawa Aglago, Women’s Organiser; Mr Shaibu Mohammed Habibi, Nasara Coordinator; Mr Seidu Musah, Communications Officer; and Mr Prince Amanor, Youth Organiser.

Mr Krobea Asante, Deputy National Communications Director of the NPP, who administered the oaths, urged the newly elected executives to unite and work towards strengthening the Party’s support base in the Region ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He said unity among the regional executives was critical to the Party’s efforts to regain and retain the confidence of the electorate.

Mr Asante urged the executives to put the interest of the Party above individual interests and work together to mobilise more supporters and votes for the NPP in 2028.

Dr Yirenkyi, in his acceptance speech, pledged to provide united and effective leadership to enable the Party to achieve its objectives in the Region.

He said the election was over and there was now the need for all members and supporters to come together as one family and work towards victory in the 2028 general elections.

He appealed to members who contested the various positions but were unsuccessful in supporting the new regional executives to build a stronger party in the region.

The election, which attracted 214 delegates instead of the expected 216, was conducted peacefully and without major incidents.

A total of 30 candidates contested 11 positions in the regional executive elections.

Dr Yirenkyi defeated the incumbent Regional Chairman, Mr Evans Yaw Dapaah, by 83 votes to 71 to become the new Oti Regional Chairman of the NPP.
