The Brong-Ahafo Regional chapter of the Health Services Workers’ Union (HSWU) of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has sensitized its members on the Tier Three Pension Scheme and its benefits.

Speaking at a two-day sensitization workshop at Goaso in the Ahafo Region, Madam Isabella Goka, the Chapter Liaison Officer of the HSWU described the Tier Three pension as laudable noting that the scheme guaranteed one’s future financial security.

She advised formal sector employees to plan their retirement by making additional investments in order not to become liabilities when they were out of active service.

Mad Goka explained that the workshop formed part of activities to commemorate the 82nd anniversary celebration of the HWSU.

The anniversary is on the theme: “Building a resilient pension and post-pension; The role of Tier Three funds in post-retirement security”.

Mad Goka explained that the union had established a fund to support members by providing them with soft loans, hired-purchase arrangements, as well as critical illness assistance.

Mr Lukeman Adama Hudu, a member of the National Executive Council of the HWSU said the union planned to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with some companies that would improve the livelihoods of the members of the union.

He advised employees to take personal responsibility for their financial security by adopting the culture of savings.
