The value of transactions on MTN Ghana’s Mobile Money (MoMo) platform grew by 44.4 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2026, reflecting the platform’s expanding role in digital financial transactions across the country.
Active MoMo users increased by 3.1 per cent during the period, while transaction volumes and MoMo revenue each recorded growth of 23.3 per cent.
Mr David Gyimah Boadi, General Manager for Southern Ghana, MTN Ghana, made the disclosure during a Regional Media and Stakeholder Engagement Programme in Ho in the Volta Region.
He said the MoMo platform had evolved beyond a payment service and was now serving as a gateway to financial inclusion and economic opportunities for individuals, households and businesses.
Mr Boadi said MTN Ghana remained committed to investing in customer education and strengthening security measures to protect users as dependence on digital financial services continued to grow.
He urged customers to safeguard their personal information, including personal identification numbers (PINs) and passwords, to minimise their exposure to fraud and cybercrime.
According to him, cybersecurity was a shared responsibility that required vigilance and cooperation from both service providers and customers.
Mr Boadi said MTN Ghana would continue to promote digital and financial inclusion, support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and equip young people with the skills needed to participate effectively in the digital economy.
He added that the company’s broader investments in telecommunications infrastructure and digital services were intended to connect more communities to opportunities and contribute to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
The event brought together stakeholders from state institutions and media organisations to discuss MTN Ghana’s operations, investments and contributions to national development.
