Berekum West DCE inaugurates ultra-modern clinic at Adom community

Mr Collins Asomah, the Berekum West District Chief Executive (DCE), has inaugurated an ultra-modern clinic at Adom, a farming community in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region.

Prior to the construction of the facility, residents had to travel long distances to towns such as Amankokwaa, Koraso and Berekum to access healthcare services, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) has learnt.

Mr Asomah said the project was funded through the district’s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and formed part of efforts to bring healthcare delivery closer to the people.

Speaking at a brief ceremony at Adom, he said the Assembly had prioritised healthcare and would continue to support the successful implementation of the Government’s Free Primary Healthcare Programme to enable residents to derive maximum benefit.

The DCE said the Assembly was also focusing on improving health and sanitation, education, roads and access to potable drinking water across the district.

Mr Asomah pledged the Assembly’s commitment to complete all abandoned development projects and ensure they were handed over for public use.

He urged community members to take proper care of the facility to guarantee its sustainability.

Mr Dickson Kyere Duah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Berekum West Constituency, said the clinic fulfilled a key campaign promise he made to the people during the 2024 election.

He assured residents that the abandoned Adom-Tewbaabi road project would soon be re-awarded to a new contractor, explaining that work on the project had stalled due to identified breaches in the previous contract.

Mr Duah said the new contract would also cover the Tewbaabi-Abisaase road project.

Mr Kennedy Ohene, Berekum West District Director of Health, commended the Assembly for the initiative, noting that the facility would provide maternal healthcare, family planning services and other general healthcare interventions.

He appealed for the establishment of a National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration centre at the facility to improve access to health insurance services.

Nana Yeboah Asuamah Kukudabi II, Chief of Adom, expressed appreciation to the Assembly and the MP for responding to the healthcare needs of the community.

He appealed for the construction of a market in the area and urged the MP to facilitate the reconstruction of the dilapidated bridge linking Adom and Mpatasie to ease movement and support economic activities.
