The people of Bilinsa, a community in the Builsa North Municipality have commissioned a new healthcare facility to improve access to health service delivery.
The self-initiated project, through the collective support of natives, Mr James Agalga, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, friends, among other stakeholders, would serve the Bilinmonsa, Bilinsobsa, Tankunsa and the Pungsa communities, which constitute the entire Bilinsa area.
The facility comprised an Out-Patient Department, dispensary and laboratory units, labour ward, consulting and nurses changing rooms, would ease the burden of community members who travel distances to access healthcare service.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr Clifford Apag-Yarik, the Assembly Member for the Bilinsa Electoral area, expressed joy for the completion of the project, and said it was a major milestone in their quest for access to quality health service delivery.

He disclosed that the initial plan to start the project which included the land acquisition and block moulding was in 2012, but the foundation and actual construction work started in 2020.
He noted that even though the building was completed, it required support to commence full operations and used the ceremony to appeal to the Municipal Assembly, Non-Governmental Organizations and other benevolent individuals to help provide medical equipment in the facility.
Mr Apag-Yarik said the community had again begun the construction of wards to detain and stabilize patients with severe medical issues before referral to the Sandema Hospital for management and urged residents to continue to contribute to the total completion of the project.
Naab Kofi Atong, the Chief of Bilinmonsa, on behind of the traditional authority, commended the people of the area for their communal spirit, willingness to unite and undertake initiatives to the benefit of residents.
He encouraged his colleague chiefs and queen mothers to support the community’s ongoing development initiatives and thanked all who contributed to the construction of the project, “The facility stands as a testament to what unity and collaboration can achieve,” the Chief said.
Mr Solomon Ansoabayie Akogti, the Builsa North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), praised the Bilinsa community for its proactive commitment to development, and said the Assembly would continue to support the area, adding that plans were underway to connect communities at Bilinsa and its environs without electricity to the national grid.
Mr Agalga in a statement delivered on his behalf, commended the people of Bilinsa for the community-driven project which he noted was critical in complementing government’s efforts.
He assured residents of his continues support to ensure the facility was well-equipped and adequately staffed to deliver quality healthcare services.
