Damang Gold Mine Limited has sold its first gold output entirely to the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, received the team from Damang Gold Mine at the GoldBod Assay Laboratory at the Accra International Airport.

He said having Ghanaians at the helm of the minerals and mining sector was crucial to maximising national benefits and driving economic transformation.
“This is imperative for the actualization of the objects of the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Program (GANRAP) launched by government and approved by Parliament,” he said.
Mr Gyamfi expressed concern over the low contribution of large‑scale mining companies to government’s foreign reserve accumulation efforts and urged others to emulate the example set by Damang Gold Mine.

The first output delivered to GoldBod amounted to about 110 kilogrammes of gold.
This transaction is seen as a significant step in strengthening Ghana’s reserve accumulation strategy and promoting local ownership in the mining sector.
