Kasseh assembly member holds town hall meeting amid residents’ concerns

Mr Ebenezer Tetteh Kpodo, Assembly Member for the Kasseh Electoral Area in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region, has held a town hall meeting to discuss development challenges facing the community.

The meeting brought together residents, opinion leaders, unit committee members and representatives of the Sanitation Department to deliberate on key concerns.

During the open forum, some residents expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as underperformance by the assembly member and certain unit committee members, citing slow progress on pressing issues.

Mr Kpodo outlined steps taken to improve conditions, including the installation of streetlights, organisation of sanitation exercises and collaboration with the district assembly, the Member of Parliament and other stakeholders on development projects. He urged residents to participate actively in communal activities, especially clean-up exercises.

Concerns were raised about the operations of commercial motorcyclists (okada), with residents citing safety risks linked to their parking, loading points and riding practices. The issue of drug use among some students was also discussed.

Mr Ofori Avor said cases of substance abuse had been reported to security agencies and community leaders but little action had been taken. Mr Amanartey Kwabi highlighted a vacant unit committee position following the death of a member, noting that the delay in replacement was affecting development.

Some participants attributed leadership challenges to Kasseh’s rapid expansion and growing population, suggesting that the electoral area be divided into smaller units to improve administrative efficiency and accelerate development.
