Colonel (Col) Dominic Buah, the Director of Operations at National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), has praised Mr Charles Egyir, a Reporter for the United Television (UTV), for using his platform to champion the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) activities in the Western Region.
Speaking at the first NAIMOS Editors’ Forum and Quarterly Press Briefing, in Accra, Col. Buah described Mr Egyir as an extraordinary journalist who had consistently reported on NAIMOS’ operations, in clamping down on galamsey activities in the country.
He said: “Some media houses and persons have been helping our activities, and the highest applause goes to one Charles Egyir because he has been keen on our operations with his reportage.”
He stated that wining the fight against galamsey was a collective responsibility and called for the continuous support of the media and other stakeholders to help rid water bodies and forest reserves of such activities.
“We appreciate the media and other stakeholders for their good works, and they should not hesitate to link up with us with all the information they need so that in success we can collectively win this fight,” Col Buah added.
