Sissala East NPP elects new Executives for the next four years

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sissala East Constituency has elected a new set of constituency executives to steer the affairs of the party over the next four years ahead of the 2028 general election.

Mr Charles Oteng-Bonsra, Sissala East Director of Elections of the Electoral Commission (EC), supervised the election held at the forecourt of the Tumu Community Centre.

In the keenly contested chairmanship election, Mr Majeed Salifu polled 459 votes to defeat Mr Bilali Ibrahim, a former organiser, who secured 375 votes out of 834 valid votes cast. Nine ballots were rejected.

Mr Asomenu Atta Robert, a former constituency secretary, won the First Vice Chairman position with 407 votes, defeating Mr Balu Fuseini and Mr Basuglo Yakubu, who obtained 359 and 58 votes respectively.

For the secretary position, Mr Forkor Nandzo Peter polled 420 votes to narrowly defeat Mr Kanyang Braimah Tommuah, who garnered 416 votes.

Mr Korro Beinjuah Samuel won the organiser position with 468 votes, while Mr Din-ee Batong Mahama Hudu secured 365 votes.

The incumbent Women’s Organiser, Madam Luri Fadila, retained her position with 574 votes, defeating Madam Dawuda Lubabatu, who obtained 161 votes, and Madam Danlardi Mary Hadoho, who polled 106 votes.

Mr Issah Attah, a national party official who supervised the election, urged the newly elected executives to unite the party and strengthen its grassroots structures to position it strongly for the 2028 general election.

Meanwhile, in the Sissala West Constituency, delegates at Gwollu approved all 11 constituency executive positions through popular acclamation.

Following the process, observed at the Dr Hilla Limann Senior High School in Gwollu, the Sissala West District Electoral Commission Officer administered the oath of office to the executives, with Mr Abudu Shaibu Gbemmie sworn in as Constituency Chairman.

Mr Tahiru Mahama was sworn in as First Vice Chairman, while former District Chief Executive Mr Mahamud Forkah became Second Vice Chairman.

Dr Abdul-Rauf Zini retained his position as Constituency Secretary for a third term, with Mr Amiweh Chaba serving as Deputy Secretary.

Mr Karimu Sunley also retained his position as Organiser, while Mr Musah King-Waaleka Iddrisu became Nasara Coordinator. Madam Rukaya Hagbana Yahaya was sworn in as Women’s Organiser and Mr Ali Yahaya Fuowie as Youth Organiser.

The other executives were Mr Luri Sulley Karimu, Treasurer, and Mr Yakubu Rafiu Jeajua, Communications Officer.

Addressing delegates, Mr Salifu Naliwie Baluwie, the party’s 2024 parliamentary candidate, expressed concern about the high cost of farm inputs and called on party members to work hard to return the NPP to power to enable farming to thrive in the Sissala enclave.
