The Ho Municipality is intensifying efforts to ease its water challenges through a 30-point mechanised borehole project currently underway across communities.

Mr Stephen Adom, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ho, announced that the initiative aims to strengthen water supply and complement the services of the Ghana Water Company Limited.

He disclosed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that 19 of the planned 30 mechanised boreholes have so far been drilled, noting that the project forms part of broader measures to improve access to potable water in the municipality.

According to the MCE, the President John Dramani Mahama facilitated the intervention to help ease the burden on residents affected by the ongoing water shortages.

“The boreholes are being drilled to augment the existing system and provide immediate relief to communities grappling with the crisis,” Mr Adom stated.

The beneficiary communities expressed appreciation for the progress made, describing the project as timely.

They, however, appealed for the availability of engineers to provide maintenance support whenever faults arise.

The listed communities include SSNIT Flats, Ho Municipal Hospital, Regional Model School, Heve, Bankoe, Agortome, Dome, Henry House, Akoefe Tokor, Hodzoga, Taviefe and Takla Tokor, among others.

Also captured in the programme are Anyama, Tokokoe, Atikpui, Tanyigbe, Klave, Lume, Deme, Klefe, Ahoe, Matse Ando, Sokode Gborgame, Sokode Bagble, Sokode Etoe, Hliha, Fiave Global M/A School, Ho Central Market, Mawuko Girls Senior High School and Toviadzi.

Mr Adom urged communities yet to benefit from the intervention to exercise patience as the process was being carried out in phases.

“Every community will be reached. It is only a matter of time, and we are committed to completing all 30 boreholes as planned,” he assured.
