The release said, the police retrieved a bag containing 37 parcels of compressed substances suspected to be Indian hemp and a crusher and the suspect was subsequently escorted to the police station with the exhibits for further investigation.
The police said, preliminary investigations suggested that the suspect might have been involved in distributing suspected narcotic substances within New York and surrounding areas.
The police said intelligence also indicated that he allegedly feigned madness to conceal his suspected illicit activities.
The substances were to be forwarded for forensic examination to establish their nature and assist investigations into the possible involvement of other individuals.
The police stated that the suspect and any accomplices would be arraigned before court after investigations were completed.
The Tema Regional Police Command cautioned the public against involvement in narcotics-related activities and urged anyone with credible information on the possession, distribution or trafficking of illicit drugs to report to the nearest police station.
