Mr Eric Kwesi Taylor, a concerned member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged the leadership and senior members of the party to stand up against reckless personal attacks, defamation and insults from the communicators, supporters or social media personalities.
He stated that, political disagreements should be expressed with civility and respect, and that public discourse was healthier when differences of opinion were debated on merit, rather than verbal attacks.
Mr Taylor made the call in a press statement on the topic: “NPP and the Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong Factor,” and copied to the Ghana News Agency at Breman Asikuma.
He said the path to victory for the party in 2028, will depend not merely on campaign messaging but on the conduct and services of party members across all levels.
“From polling station executives to national leaders there must be meaningful engagement with the communities through job creation initiatives, women’s empowerment, youth development and volunteerism to help build public confidence in the party.”
According to him, the NPP stood to benefit from the continued active involvement of Mr Kennedy Agyapong because he had the broad base support and commanded from within and outside the party.
“I therefore appeal to Mr Agyapong to remain focused on the bigger picture, set aside past grievances and continue contributing to the growth and success of the party they all cherish, saying many of them appreciated his contributions and hoped to see him continue playing an active role in national development and in the progress of the NPP.
“Time often reveals the true value of leadership and service,” he indicated.
Mr Taylor who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Penyman Group Limited stated that, he regarded Mr Agyapong as a business mentor whose entrepreneurial journey and political career had inspired him.
“I admire and continue to learn from your entrepreneurial skills, business acumen and ability to build successful enterprises.
“I appreciate his courage in politics, his commitment to empowering young people through job creation and entrepreneurship and also, I value his willingness to speak candidly on matters of national importance, even when doing so he may be unpopular.”
According to Mr Taylor, his admiration does not imply that he agreed with everything he said or did, adding that like every human being, Mr Agyapong had strengths and weaknesses.
He further encouraged the youth of the party to refrain from attacking Mr Agyapong or any senior member of the party, even when they disagreed with their views, saying they must think about their future before allowing themselves to be used for political battles.
“The party has experienced leaders, former Presidents, former presidential aspirants, former and current national executives and respected elders who are well placed to address internal concerns and disagreements constructively,” he stated.
“Let us be guided, protect our future as well as our destiny, may the Almighty God bless NPP and Ghana as a whole, “he added.
