Rich Adaklu culture showcased at the commissioning of the Traditional Council building

The rich Adaklu culture was showcased Friday at the commissioning of a state-of-the-art office complex for the Adaklu Traditional Council at Adaklu Abuadi.

Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, President of the Adaklu Traditional Council and Paramount Chief of Adaklu and his sub-chiefs adorned with rich kente cloths and beads were captivating.

The performances of Adaklu Dorkpo adevu (a drumming and dancing performed by hunters) and Wugah drumming group also held invited guests and spectators spell bound.

The edifice, which cost GHS900,000, was funded by Mr Kwame Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways with his share of the MP Common Fund.

Mr. Agbodza who is also the Member of Parliament for Adaklu also provided furniture and other office equipment worth GHS600,000.

The edifice comprised a conference room, offices and store and washrooms among others.

It was jointly commissioned by Mr. Agbodza, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, Madam Rita Naa Odorley Sowah, Deputy Minister for LGCRA and Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V, President and Paramount Chief of Adaklu Traditional Council.

Some of the guests could not control themselves but joined the hunters in dancing to the beat of the drums.

The two groups were given a standing ovation after their performances.

The Gbekor Senior High School also entertained the guests with their beautiful gospel renditions which attracted a GHS1,000 gift from Togbega Gbogbi.

Togbega Gbogbi speaking at the ceremony, was full of praise for Mr Agbodza and stated that “our MP has taken away the shame of Adaklu by giving us a befitting office.”
