Mr Edem Kofi Kpotosu, the Member of Parliament for the Ho Central Constituency, has led a sod-cutting ceremony for a construction project for the for E.P. Mawuko Girls’ Senior High School at the school’s new site at Hosita, in the Ho Municipality.

Included in the project are a modern 3-18-unit classroom block, staff accommodation, and restroom facilities.

The project forms part of efforts aimed at improving educational infrastructure and expanding access to quality education for girls within the Ho Central Constituency.

The project is being undertaken in collaboration with Right Rev. Dr Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana; Mr Stephen Adom, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho Central and Madam Rose Cynthia Nyawuto, the Headmistress of the school and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Kpotosu described investment in education, particularly girls’ education as a critical pillar for sustainable national development.

“No child should be denied access to quality education because of inadequate infrastructure. This project reflects our commitment to empowering young women through education and building a brighter future for the people of Ho Central,” he stated.

According to the Member of Parliament, the new project would help address the increasing demand for admission into Mawuko Girls Senior High School while also securing the school’s newly acquired land against encroachment.

“The project is strategically designed to expand facilities at Mawuko Girls SHS to cater for the growing number of students seeking admission into the school every academic year,” he added.

Mr Kpotosu noted that the initiative would also officially commence activities on the school’s new site at Hosita and create opportunities for future infrastructural expansion and development.

The project, expected to be completed within two years, was facilitated through the support of Mawutor Agbavitor, the Regional Chairman of the NDC and the Ho Central Member of Parliament.

Stakeholders at the event commended the initiative and expressed optimism that the project would significantly improve teaching and learning conditions while promoting girls’ education in the constituency.
