Madam Efua Falconer, the Acting Senior Manager, Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, says the company is poised to reach everyone, regardless of their geographical location, with its digital transformation agenda.
She said the company remained committed to expanding network coverage, improving service quality, and creating opportunities for communities, particularly those in underserved areas.
Speaking during a media and stakeholders’ engagement in the Oti Region as part of MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary celebration under the theme, “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You,” she said, the company’s digital transformation agenda was aimed at connecting people to opportunities, businesses to markets and communities to essential services.
MTN is poised in “Doing for People, Doing for Growth, Doing it Right, and Doing for Planet.”
She, however, urged the media to champion their transformational agenda through their various media platforms in order to make their goal of rendering good and developmental services to the people regardless of their geographical location.
Mr David Gyimah Boadi, the General Manager, Southern Ghana, MTN also noted that MTN Ghana was investing US$1.1 billion over three years, including approximately US$380 million in 2026, to strengthen network capacity, improve service quality, and enhance infrastructure resilience.
He also acknowledged concerns about network coverage, data usage, customer support, and delays in resolving service disruptions in the region during the engagement.
In response, he said MTN had positioned technical personnel in Dambai, established dedicated fibre-maintenance support in the town, and was developing backup fibre connectivity between Nkwanta and Bimbilla to improve network reliability.
He added that 500 new network sites were targeted for deployment nationwide in 2026, with particular attention to underserved communities.
According to him, the interventions would go beyond providing stronger network signals to enable farmers to access markets, students to benefit from digital learning resources, and health facilities to communicate effectively and businesses to transact digitally.
Mr Gyimah further disclosed that MTN’s service centres in Dambai, Nkwanta, and Kete-Krachi provided customers with SIM services, Mobile money support, device assistance, bill payments, SM, and complaint resolution.
On financial inclusion, he said Mobile Money continued to play an important role in communities where access to traditional banking services was limited, enabling families to respond to emergencies, parents to pay school fees and traders to receive payments.
He revealed that Mobile Money transaction value increased by 44.4 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2026, while transaction volumes and revenue each recorded 23.3 per cent growth.
The manager continued that as part of its youth empowerment initiatives, MTN’s Skills Academy was working towards equipping more than 100,000 young people with digital literacy, financial skills, and career-readiness capabilities.
He added that the MTN Ghana Foundation had awarded 500 Bright Scholarships in 2026, covering tuition, accommodation, stipends, and laptops.
He said the company remained committed to collaborating with the regional coordinating council, district assemblies, educational institutions, traditional authorities, and community organisations to identify sustainable interventions that address the development needs of the region.
He also urged customers to remain vigilant against Mobile Money fraud by protecting their PINs, passwords, and personal information.
“This engagement formed part of activities marking MTN Ghana’s 30 years of operations in the country,” he added.
He concluded that the company was committed to improving network reliability, closing coverage gaps, protecting customers, and ensuring that digital transformation creates meaningful opportunities for all Ghanaians.
