Mr Richard Kwadwo Adu, a chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Wenchi constituency of the Bono Region has pledged his dedication to lead the party to recapture the constituency parliamentary seat in the Election 2028.
As one of the political strongholds of the NPP in the Bono Region, the Wenchi parliamentary seat has been a traditional seat of the party.
However, the present National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP), Alhaji Seidu Haruna unseated the former Deputy Minister of Finance Professor George Gyan-Baffour in the Election 2020.
Alhaji Haruna maintained the parliamentary seat in the Election 2024, after narrowly beating Mr Kojo Frempong, the NPP’s Election 2024 parliamentary candidate.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wenchi, Mr Adu, also a former youth organiser of the NPP in the constituency called on the delegates to ensure that they make informed decisions and vote for him.
He said his major vision was to just ensure that the NPP regain the parliamentary seat saying that: “I am ready and dedicated to do so”.
“Wenchi isn’t only the hometown of the late Dr Abrefa Busia but has been a political stronghold of our great party and our founding members will remain unhappy in their graves if we allow the NDC to take over the seat from us”, he stated.
Mr Adu, also an Assembly Member of the Ntoase Electoral Area in the Wenchi Municipality said presently he was leading a political group known as the “G boys” going round to identify and address challenges that led the party to lose the Wenchi parliamentary seat in the last General Election.
He indicated that the various constituencies remained the strong pillars of the NPP, hence the need to strengthen the grassroots support base of the party by adequately resourcing them both financially and logistically.
Mr Adu said he was confident that with him the party in the constituency could take back the parliamentary seat and win the presidential slot in the Election 2028 aond urged the delegates to vote for him.
