Ahwenease Development Association makes strides in community development

The Ahwenease Development Association (ADA) has intensified its community development drive with major investments in education, security, and social infrastructure to transform the Kyebi-Ahwenease locality in the Eastern Region.

Established in August 2022, the association has implemented several projects to improve the living conditions of residents.

Mrs. Charity Anima Offei, Chairperson of the ADA, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that concerned citizens formed the association to champion developmental initiatives.

Highlighting the group’s milestones, she said the association donated 60 school desks, alongside five teachers’ tables and chairs, valued at 14,000 Ghana cedis to the local Presbyterian Junior High School.

The association also rehabilitated the community’s kindergarten and primary school buildings and concreted the forecourts of the two basic schools.

To promote digital literacy, she said the ADA established a modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre equipped with computers and furniture for students and residents.

On security and recreation, Mrs. Offei stated that the association installed streetlights at vantage points across the community to improve night-time visibility.

It further donated to football jerseys, footballs, and a television set to support recreational and educational activities in the local schools.

“These significant interventions were accomplished within a few years of the association’s formation, and we have earned widespread commendation from residents and stakeholders,” Mrs. Offei said.

She expressed gratitude to members and supporters for their commitment, and appealed to corporate bodies, benevolent organisations and citizens in the diaspora to support the association’s ongoing efforts.

“More support will enable the association to undertake more development projects to accelerate the progress of Ahwenease and contribute to the broader development agenda of the Municipal Assembly and Ghana at large,” she added.
