The traditional cleansing and purification rituals scheduled for Ho will begin at 2200 hours on Friday, September 11, 2026, and continue through the night until dawn on Saturday, September 12, 2026, the Asogli State Council, has clarified.

The Council, acting under the authority of Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, has discounted reports circulating on social media suggesting restrictions on movement in and out of Ho during the period.

The Council, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Mr Stephen Tetteh, said there was no restriction on travel to or from Ho, and members of the public could travel to and from the township as usual.

The Council explained that the rituals were traditional cleansing and purification rites to be performed by the chiefs and elders of Ho in response to the recent unfortunate spate of road accidents in the township, which had resulted in loss of lives and property.

According to the Council, the rites were intended to cleanse the town and seek spiritual protection, peace and the continued wellbeing of its people.

It stressed that the rituals had no connection with the ongoing annual Asogli Te Za celebrations and did not form part of the 2026 Te Za programme.

“All scheduled activities of the 2026 Asogli Te Za will proceed as advertised,” the statement said.

The Council, however, appealed to residents, visitors and the general public to conduct themselves in a manner that respected the solemnity and sanctity of the rituals.

It urged churches and organisers of other programmes to, as far as practicable, conclude their activities by 2130 hours, while operators of pubs, drinking spots, recreational centres and similar establishments were also expected to end their activities by that time.

The Council further appealed to such establishments to avoid any conduct that could interfere with the performance of the traditional rites.

It said the route to be used for the rituals had been provided for public guidance and urged the public to disregard misinformation and rely on official communications from the Asogli Traditional Council for accurate information.
