Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has engaged a delegation from Wasteman Ghana as part of efforts to strengthen sanitation and environmental management across the region.
The delegation, led by its Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mark Benjamin, paid a courtesy call on the Minister to formally introduce the company and explore areas of collaboration with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council.
During the meeting, Mr Benjamin outlined the company’s operations as a registered waste management firm with over four years of experience in structured waste collection, recycling initiatives, and community education on responsible waste disposal.
He highlighted their commitment to delivering practical, scalable, and sustainable solutions aimed at improving sanitation outcomes while supporting broader environmental protection goals within communities.
The delegation also commended Mr Gunu for his advocacy on sanitation and his commitment to strengthening waste management systems in the region, describing his leadership as timely in addressing growing environmental challenges.
In response, Mr Gunu welcomed the delegation and praised Wasteman Ghana for its proactive role in promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Regional Coordinating Council to collaborate with private sector actors to improve sanitation standards, noting that partnerships were key to achieving sustainable waste management solutions.
The Minister further expressed readiness to build a strong and productive partnership with the company, stressing that collective efforts would be crucial in addressing sanitation challenges and ensuring a cleaner, healthier environment for residents of the Volta Region.
The engagement forms part of ongoing initiatives by the Regional Minister to deepen stakeholder collaboration and promote innovative approaches to sanitation and environmental sustainability.
