Jasikan Municipal Assembly ranked ninth nationally in 2025 public financial management assessment

The Jasikan Municipal Assembly has been ranked ninth out of 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the country in the 2025 Public Financial Management Compliance League Table (PFMCLT).

This underscores its commitment to sound financial management and good governance.

The recognition was announced during a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with development partners, to assess the level of compliance of MMDAs with public financial management regulations and best practices.

The Public Financial Management Compliance League Table evaluates assemblies based on key performance indicators, including budget credibility, transparency, accountability, implementation of audit recommendations, procurement compliance, financial reporting and adherence to public financial management laws.

The Jasikan Municipal Assembly’s impressive performance placed it among the top 10 assemblies nationwide, reflecting significant improvements in financial planning, prudent resource management and effective reporting systems during the assessment period.

Mr Parke-Davis Magyigbe and Assembly officials attributed the achievement to the dedication and hard work of staff, Assembly Members, management, the Member of Parliament and other stakeholders who contributed to strengthening financial governance within the municipality.

They noted that the recognition demonstrated the Assembly’s commitment to accountability, transparency and the efficient use of public resources in delivering quality services to residents.

The officials also reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining the gains made while addressing identified gaps to further improve financial management systems and enhance service delivery.

Within the Oti Region, the Jasikan Municipal Assembly placed third with a score of 87.40 per cent, contributing to the region’s strong performance in the 2025 assessment.

The Assembly expressed optimism that the recognition would inspire staff and stakeholders to maintain high standards of fiscal discipline and institutional excellence in support of local development.
