Live lives that reflect deep dependence on God – Rev Dzansi

The Reverend Eric Dzansi, Pastor in-charge of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Kodzi near Aflao, has urged Christians to live lives that demonstrate deep and consistent dependence on God.

He said total dependence on God required believers to align their daily conduct with God’s moral and spiritual principles.

Rev Dzansi made the call in an online sermon monitored by the Ghana News Agency in Ho.

The sermon, drawn from Psalm 15, Micah 6:1–8, 1 Corinthians 1:18–31, and Matthew 5:1–12, was on the theme: “Walking humbly with God’s righteousness and wisdom.”

He encouraged Christians to combine humility before God with practical righteousness in their relationships, decisions and actions, allowing God’s wisdom to shape their thoughts, choices and interactions with others.

Rev Dzansi noted that Christianity should not be confined to Sunday worship through singing and prayer but must be reflected in daily living.

He questioned why many who worship faithfully on Sundays still engage in cheating in markets, bribery in offices and on roads, and struggle with selfishness and broken relationships at home.

“How can we be so religious and yet so careless in our daily lives?” he asked.

He stressed that Christian living must be evident everywhere—at home, in offices, schools, markets and on the roads.

Rev Dzansi said God desired transformed lives marked by humility, righteousness and wisdom, adding that “God is not impressed by outward religion.”

He encouraged Christians to act justly, show mercy, be compassionate, patient and honest, treat others with dignity, exercise authority with humility and forgive readily.

According to him, spiritual success should not be measured by worldly standards such as eloquence, influence, wealth, status or intelligence, but by the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

He urged believers to let go of pride, self-reliance, bitterness, greed and petty quarrels.

Rev Dzansi noted that although society often rewards aggression and self-promotion, Jesus Christ calls His followers to a counter-cultural life.

He advised Christians to choose integrity over compromise, mercy over bitterness and obedience over pride.

He said the lives of believers should consistently reflect Christ so they become living testimonies of God’s transforming power.
