A youth movement calling itself the ‘Voices of Patriotic Citizens’, has been launched, advocating a third term of office for President John Dramani Mahama.

Mr Frank Opoku Agyapong, the Convener, explained that the “Voices of Patriotic Citizens” remained a non-partisan, but a social movement with the vision of promoting good governance and accountability.

Addressing a news conference in Sunyani to unveil the group, Mr Agyapong stated that the group also sought to uphold and defend the fundamental human rights and dignity of the citizenry.

He justified that the President John Dramani Mahama’s administration had performed creditably in government and mentioned specifically the execution of the ‘Big Push’ road infrastructure development as laudable and unparalleled.

Mr Agyapong expressed the fear that a change of government could slow down or affect the numerous physical development projects being executed by the government and spread across the length and breadth of the nation.

“The purpose of politics is development and so if Mahama is on course and doing well, then we must give him an additional term of office”, he stated.

Mr Agyapong noted that from the way things were going in the government now and with additional terms of office, President Mahama could build a prosperous nation for all.

He said though he was not a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), however, the group admired the leadership style of President Mahama.

“I think for the past one and half years in government, evidence is clear that the nation’s progressive growth and development is on course and we must give President Mahama an additional term of office to achieve his vision for the nation”, Mr Agyapong advocated.
