The Calvary Temple Assemblies of God (AG) Church, at North Suntreso in the Kumasi Metropolis, has organised a free breast screening for its members as part of this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness month celebration.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, commemorated in October each year across the world, is to increase the awareness of early diagnosis and treatment of the disease and give adequate care for those suffering from it.
Dr. Anthony Davor, a Paediatric Surgeon at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the Health Committee Head of the Church, speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the screening was to educate the members on how deadly the disease could be, and give more information on breast cancer and its related effects on human beings, especially women.
He explained that the screening was not only for women but also included men.
Dr. Davor urged the Church members to take advantage of the exercise to know their breast cancer status to enable them to go for early treatment.
Ms. Esther Adu-Nkansah, a member of the Church who benefitted from the exercise, urged all women to regularly screen their breast to prevent future complications.
She also encouraged women to check their diets, exercise, and desist from lifestyles that could put them at risk of contracting the disease.
Others who went through the screening expressed gratitude to the Church for their benevolence towards humanity and wished that it continued often to save lives.
