Mr Mohammed Baalbaki, the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, has presented vehicles, motorbikes and other logistics to the Ghana Police Service to support its operations.
The items are expected to aid the Police in the fight against crime and enhance the maintenance of law and order in the country.
They included three Nissan Navara pickups, 20 Apsonic motorbikes, twenty 43-inch television sets and 30 1.5-horsepower air conditioners.
Mr Baalbaki made the presentation on behalf of the Lebanese Community in Ghana at a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday.
He said the Lebanese Community was honoured to support the Ghana Police Service with the items, noting that the provision of adequate logistics was essential for the Police to effectively deliver on its mandate.
Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), who received the items, expressed gratitude to the Ambassador and the Lebanese Community for the gesture.
He said the donation reflected the community’s recognition of the Police Service’s efforts in crime reduction.
The IGP noted that the items would go a long way to supporting the fight against crime and assured that they would be put to good use.
He said the television sets and air conditioners would be installed at the new ward under construction at the Ghana Police Hospital, adding that the items had arrived at an opportune time.
Mr Yohuno said the motorbikes would enhance intelligence-gathering operations, explaining that criminals increasingly used motorbikes to perpetrate crimes.
