Ambassador Gli calls on parents to nurture children’s gifts and talents

Mr Walter Mawuli Gli, Ambassador for Pan African Affairs, has called on parents to identify, nurture and support their children’s gifts and talents from the foundation level.

He said the early identification and proper development of children’s abilities could help them build confidence, acquire relevant skills and eventually transform their talents into meaningful careers.

Mr Gli made the call, when he addressed the graduation ceremony under the theme: “Building the Foundation Structures for Our Future.”

He urged parents to pay close attention to their children’s individual abilities, interests and creative potential, stressing that education should not focus solely on academic performance.

He said children possessed diverse abilities and could excel in areas such as the arts, culture, creativity, innovation, sports and other fields when given the necessary encouragement and support.

Mr Gli encouraged parents to create opportunities for their children to explore their interests and develop their talents alongside their academic pursuits.

He also recommended that the school introduce additional certificates, prizes and other forms of recognition to encourage learners who demonstrated exceptional talents in the arts and other creative fields.

He said recognizing and rewarding emerging talents would motivate children to develop their abilities with confidence while inspiring their peers to discover and pursue their own gifts.

The Chairman of the Occasion further called for stronger collaboration between parents and teachers to create an enabling environment where children could discover themselves, build confidence and acquire the skills needed for their future.

He said parents, teachers and educational institutions had a shared responsibility to provide children with a strong foundation that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The fifth graduation ceremony brought together school authorities, teachers, parents, invited guests and learners to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class and reflect on the importance of investing in early childhood development and education.

The ceremony ended with congratulations to the graduating learners and a renewed call for sustained investment in education and the development of children’s talents from an early age.
