Execution of Road Projects in Bono Region Taking Shape – Minister

Mr. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, Bono Regional Minister, says the execution of road networks under the government’s “Big Push” infrastructure programme is progressing steadily, with a strong emphasis on quality work.

He noted that “visible progress is being made on the road projects, with works gradually taking shape across various sites.”

Mr. Akwaboa made these remarks during his regional “Accounting to the People” tour, where he addressed chiefs and residents of Suma-Ahenkro in the Jaman North District after inspecting several ongoing projects.

He explained that the tour aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting transparency, participatory governance, and responsive leadership.

The Minister stated that he had inspected the ongoing construction of the 20-kilometre Sampa–Duadaso–Kokoa road and expressed satisfaction with the progress. Contractors, he said, have assured completion of the project within one year.

He added that work has also commenced on other major road projects, including the 80-kilometre Jinijini–Sampa road and the Sampa–Wenchi stretch.

Mr. Akwaboa expressed optimism that sections of these roads would be asphalted by early 2027. He also indicated that construction on the Berekum–Seikwa road project is progressing as planned.

He commended the government of President John Dramani Mahama for its commitment to improving road infrastructure across the Bono Region and the country, noting that such efforts will drive economic growth and sustainable development.

The Minister stressed the importance of improved road networks in enhancing connectivity, facilitating economic activities, and improving access to social services.

At some project sites, including the 33-kilometre Wamfie–Gambia No. 2 Road in the Dormaa East District, it was observed that contractors had leveled about 16 kilometres.

Similarly, on the 80-kilometre Jinijini–Sampa road, major earthworks have commenced from Jinijini Township towards parts of the Fetentaa community, with culvert construction progressing steadily.

Work on the 20-kilometre Sampa–Duadaso–Kokoa Road is also advancing well. However, progress on the Botokrom–Babianiha–Japekrom–Drobo–Sampa Road project remains slow, with minimal work observed on that stretch.
