The Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with some technology institutions for smart campus connectivity and digital transformation initiative.
The institutions are Celltel Networks Limited, Kludjeson Institute of Technology, and Cisco Academy.
The MoU is aimed at improving digital access, expand connectivity, support teaching and learning, and to promote innovation across the campuses.
It would cover potential areas such as school-wide wireless connectivity, students and staff internet access services, smart campus technologies, digital learning and certification programmes, device financing solutions, and broader digital inclusion initiatives.
Prof Ebenezer Malcalm, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the GCTU in an address said, “We are thrilled by the prospects that this relationship provides for our students.”
He noted that access to reliable internet is no longer a luxury in today’s digital economy, but that it is a requirement.
It serves as the foundation for modern education, innovation, business, and research.
“Through this collaboration, we hope to create an environment in which students can easily access knowledge, interact efficiently, and develop the skills needed to survive in an increasingly interconnected world,” he stated.
Prof Malcalm pointed out that the proposed collaboration in areas such as digital skills development, industry-recognised certifications, Cisco Academy-related programmes, innovation, and entrepreneurship is completely consistent with GCTU’s mission of producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also industry-ready and globally competitive.
He thanked the leadership of Celltel Networks Limited for their vision, professionalism, and dedication throughout the engagement process, while applauding the contribution of the Kludjeson Institute of Technology and Cisco Academy
Dr Prince Kofi Kludjeson, President, Celltel Network Limited, Kludjeson Institute of Technology said their partnership was to support GCTU to teach ICT online to transform the country.
“What is happening in India is that even in the Temple or in the churches they teach ICT through online. Today 86 per cent of the CEOs in the world are all Indians through that process.
“So, we need to find a way and think outside the box to be able to develop. So, we are here to partner you to see what we can do and what God will do to achieve the desire goals and objectives of the GCTU.
