Chiefs and people of Salaga assured of the complete Hospital project

Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has assured the chiefs and people of Salaga of steps to ensure the completion of the Salaga Hospital to help improve healthcare delivery in the area.

He expressed worry over the delay in completing the hospital project, whose funding arrangements, he said, began during the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Mr Nketia gave the assurance during an engagement with the chiefs and people of Salaga as part of his “Thank You Tour” tour of the Savannah Region.

The assurance followed concerns raised by the Salaga traditional authorities about some development challenges in the area, including the stalled Salaga Hospital project during the engagement.

Responding to the concerns, the NDC Chairperson indicated that he would engage the necessary stakeholders to ensure the completion of the facility.

Me Nketia also appealed for continuous prayers, support, and provision of wise counsel to the government to enable it to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.

He said governing a country and fulfilling campaign promises were far more difficult than winning political power and stressed the need for continuous engagement between stakeholders and the government’s leadership to chart a path to sustainable development.

“Being able to do what you promise to do is the most difficult part of governance, and so if we receive your prayers and your counsel during the campaign, this is the most important moment where we need your prayers and your counsel even more than during the elections”, he said.

Mr. Nketiah indicated that they would continue to consult chiefs and community leaders to identify outstanding development needs and emerging challenges that required the government’s attention.

Touching on concerns by some party supporters over perceived neglect after the elections, Mr Nketia urged the party supporters to place national interest above personal expectations and that every Ghanaian would reap the benefits of the John Dramani Mahama-led government.

Mr Abu Abdulai Jinapor, the Member of Parliament for the Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency, indicated that access to potable water remained a major challenge in the area but noted that the government was working hard to address the problem.

He also assured residents that efforts were underway to improve roads and support farmers with agricultural inputs, including fertiliser, to enhance livelihoods as the farming season approached.

Other constituencies visited included the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, Bole-Bamboi and Damango constituencies in the Savannah Region.
