The Oti Regional Management of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) has honoured Senior Emergency Medical Technician (SEMT), Mr Daniel Marfo, for his exceptional bravery and professionalism in saving a life.
On February 16, 2026, SEMT Marfo sprang into action after witnessing a head-on collision between two motorcycles and initiated CPR on an unresponsive victim successfully revived one.
The award ceremony held at the Oti Regional National Ambulance Service (NAS) office in Worawora of the Biakoye District, recognised SEMT Marfo swift and decisive intervention, highlighting the critical importance of emergency medical skills beyond ambulance settings.
On behalf of Dr George Kojo Owusu, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Oti Regional Administrative Manager DCAEMT Joshua Amarh Doku, praised SEMT Marfo’s courageous act and encouraged other SEMT’s to follow his example.
He emphasised that the role of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) extended far beyond driving patients in an ambulance, saying, wherever an EMT finds himself, he remains a critical first responder committed to preserving life and ensuring public safety.
Paramedic Emergency Medical Technician (PAEMT) Mr Alex Gamason, Deputy Regional Administrative Manager, highlighted that EMTs were highly trained and mentally equipped to deliver life-saving care, particularly in pre-hospital settings.
He attributed SEMT Marfo’s prompt and effective response to the rigorous training and preparedness of NAS personnel, reflecting the region’s commitment to safeguarding lives and responding to emergencies.
Receiving a 32-inch flatscreen, SEMT Marfo expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his dedication to NAS’s core mandate: Saving Lives and Providing Quality Pre-Hospital Emergency Care.
The ceremony organised by the Oti Regional Administrative Manager, DCAEMT Joshua Amarh Doku, underscored NAS personnel’s unwavering commitment to duty, courage, and excellence in emergency medical response.
